"THERE IS A 'CAN' IN CANCER" - My Time at MSKCC - by Avi Kerendian
Previously studying Ancient Near Eastern Biblical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics in Israel, Avi transferred and graduated magna cum laude in three years with a degree in Biology and Spanish from YU in New York, NY where he was also a member of the NCAA D1 Fencing Team and a qualifier for Competing in the NCAA Northeast Regional Fencing Championships.
After graduating, Avi was invited to participate at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in Manhattan, New York as an NE cancer-research intern in the Molecular & Pharmacology Dept. at the renowned "Ronald Blasberg Lab." While there, Avi helped contribute towards two research projects relating to glioblastoma and breast cancer in terminally-ill cancer patients.
Discovering that he had a great passion for helping serve others, Avi decided to help put his time and energy into helping create and co-find, "Gracias" Global Health Trips, also known as GGHTx where volunteers get to experience a once in a lifetime opportunity for a rich, cultural experience in an exotic locale and unmatched healthcare volunteer opportunities.
